Officer Goodson was born October 25th, 1979 and grew up in the Lumberton N.C. and Dillon S.C. areas. Jeremiah was a school resource officer at Lumberton Senior High where he began his fund “Dream Plenty … Conquer Success”. He was employed by the City of Lumberton in 2000 and joined the Lumberton Police Department on June 14th, 2006 and served diligently until his final day on July 17th, 2012.

On that day, July 17th, 2012 Officer Goodson was off-duty and recognized an individual being wanted on outstanding warrants for possession of a firearm by a felon. As Jeremiah and a second responding officer approached the vehicle the subject opened fire striking Officer Goodson in the chest. The 27 year-old is charged with first degree murder and being held without bond in the Cumberland County Jail.

Officer Jeremiah Montgomery Goodson, Jr. leaves behind many family and friends who affectionately referred to him as “chucky”. Among those left behind include his Wife Lametria Goodson, Daughter Jurnee Amiah, Son Josiah Malachi (born July 25th, 2012), parents Jerry and Bettie Goodson, Sister Isis Goodson, and Brother Joshua Goodson.
